Acapulco – Is a forthcoming AppleTv+ comedy which debuts on October 8th. “The show follows Máximo Gallardo (Enrique Arrizon) as he embarks upon his dream career of working for a hot resort in the titular city in his 20s in 1984 — and as he reflects upon those experiences when recounting them for his nephew in the present day. Present-day Máximo is played by Eugenio Derbez. “Acapulco,” which features dialogue in both English and Spanish, also stars Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Chord Overstreet, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Regina Orozco and Carlos Corona. It is created by showrunners Austin Winsberg and Chris Harris, Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman.”

Attack Of The Hollywood Clichés – Charlie Brooker’s forthcoming one off special, which seems a pretty weak idea compared to his normal projects, has revealed the list of celebrities taking part. “Richard E. Grant, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Four Weddings And A Funeral star Andie MacDowell are among the film stars dissecting movie tropes in Netflix’s upcoming Attack Of The Hollywood Clichés, British Comedy Guide can reveal. Hosted by Rob Lowe and made by Charlie Brooker’s production company Broke & Bones, the one-hour special launches on the streaming service on Tuesday. Jonathan Ross, Mark Strong, Florence Pugh, Andrew Garfield and A Nightmare On Elm Street’s Robert Englund also contribute to the show, alongside a raft of British and American filmmakers and critics”. and a trailer for it is here:

The Big Leap – Star Simone Recasner has discussed this forthcoming Fox dramedy about a fake reality tv show”.

The Comeback Girl – Kathryn Hahn is to play Joan Rivers in a forthcoming Showtime series about her life. “Rivers died at age 81 on Sept. 4, 2014, several days after she’d stopped breathing during a routine endoscopy on her throat. She’d been a revolutionary figure in the world of stand-up comedy, especially as a woman — and particularly during the 1960s, when her star began to rise in New York’s comedy scene. She also began her run of iconic appearances on “The Tonight Show” in the mid-‘60s, which eventually led to her becoming Johnny Carson’s regular guest host on that show in the 1980s. The two had a bitter falling out in 1986 after she went to the nascent Fox network for her own show, called “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers.” In doing so, Rivers became the first woman to host a late-night talk show — but also Carson’s competition. He said he hadn’t heard the news from her, which hurt him, and he banned her from “The Tonight Show.” “The Comeback Girl” is primarily set in the aftermath of the cancellation of “The Late Show,” which coincided with Rivers’ husband (and “Late Show” producer) Edgar Rosenberg’s death by suicide. The logline for “The Comeback Girl” is: “Trailblazer. Adored. Cruel. Diva. Joan Rivers had a life like no other. At age 54, she was a superstar comedienne…and then it all fell apart. THE COMEBACK GIRL is the awe-inspiring untold story of how Joan Rivers persevered through near suicide and professional abyss to rebuild herself and her career to become a global icon.””.

Cunk On Earth – Diane Morgan will once again portray Philomena Cunk in a spoof documentary series “exploring science and technology”.

Derry Girls – The forthcoming third series will be its final one.

Emerald – Sharon Horgan is working on a dark comedy thriller for AppleTv+, though little else is known about it right now.

Emily In Paris – Some pictures from the second season can be found here:

Frankie Boyle’s New World Order – Will be back for a fifth series:

Full Frontal With Samantha Bee – Will be returning for a seventh season on tbs.

Hitmen – Katherine Parkinson will appear in the show’s second series. “In the new series, the IT Crowd star plays villain Kat Gaitskill, who built up a lifestyle empire. She’s also a murderous psychopath harbouring a decades-long grudge against Sue Perkins’ character Fran for, as she sees it, stealing her childhood best friend Jamie (Mel Giedroyc). ‘It’s nice to show a female triangle where they’re fighting over the friendship of another female, Parkinson said. ‘ I’m not sure how much I’ve seen that. There’s usually a man in the equation. There is a psychosexual element that I’ve been playing, but that wasn’t necessarily in the script. I’ve discovered that I love playing absolute bitches. I have played a total bitch before in Defending The Guilty. I like playing withering high-status characters. I like doing things that are quite heightened, I think.‘I loved doing the scenes in the dark where I’d creep up behind Mel with a slightly glazed, medicated demeanour. There’s a shot where I’m given a bunch of flowers and I go about trimming the stems, then chop off the heads with a sinister smile. I love all of that.””.

Hit Monkey – Is a new Marvel animated comedy that will air on Hulu, the network where Disney likes to hide any shows it’s making that are a bit unusual or weird. The show is apparently about “A macaque assassin looking to avenge his murdered family members. But wait! Before you say “oh, weird,” did we mention that he’s friends with a ghost and that the ghost is played by Jason Sudeikis? Now you may say “oh, weird.” The series will also feature the voices of George Takei (playing a politician who is apparently a good guy), Olivia Munn (playing his niece and potentially not a good buy), Ally Maki (a good cop), Nobi Nakanishi (a bad cop, or at least “bad” like Homer Simpson on Police Cops), and Fred Tatasciore (as Monkey, the Hit-Monkey)”. More info and a short trailer are here:

How To Be Black – ABC are developing this animated series based on Baratunde Thurston’s memoir of the same name.

Marriage – Is a new comedy drama from Mum writer Stefan Golaszewski for the BBC which will star Sean Bean and Nicola Walker. “The four-part series, Marriage, is described as an ‘up-close portrait’ of a relationship, ‘sometimes funny, sometimes moving and always revealing’.”.

Muppets Haunted Mansion – A trailer for this forthcoming special is here:

Night Court – The sequel series is now definitely going to go ahead. “The follow-up to the beloved sitcom created by Reinhold Weege was originally ordered to pilot at NBC back in May. Like the original, the new series will be a half-hour multi-cam. “Big Bang Theory” alum Melissa Rauch is starring in the series along with original series star John Larroquette. n the series, unapologetically optimistic judge Abby Stone (Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone, follows in her father’s footsteps as she presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics, most notably former night court prosecutor Dan Fielding (Larroquette).”.

On My Block – A trailer for the fourth and final season of this coming of age dramedy is here:

The Orville – The third season of Seth Macfarlane’s sort of sci-fi comedy will be subtitled “New Horizons”, and will premiere on March 10th, 2022.

The Other Two – Has been given a third season by HBO Max, which is lovely news as this is great stuff.

Pandemonium – The BBC have ordered a full series of Tom Basden’s sitcom, the pilot of which aired over Christmas and which focused on “The Jessop family as they struggled with spending quality time together during the coronavirus pandemic, taking their summer holiday in Margate in October. Starring Katherine Parkinson and Jim Howick as Rachel and Paul Jessop, Alison Steadman (Gavin & Stacey) played Paul’s mother Sue. Freya Parks (School’s Out Forever) was the couple’s daughter Amy, with Jack Christou (Penny On M.A.R.S.) as their son Sam. Basden played Rachel’s brother Robin, with Tori Allen-Martin (Pure) as his high-maintenance fiancé Cherry and Mica Ricketts (As Dead As It Gets) as Amy’s girlfriend Maya. Written by Basden and capturing the Jessops at various stages of the pandemic, from early 2020 optimism for their upcoming holiday in California and Robin’s marriage to Cherry, through to them bickering at each other on holiday and Robin and Amy’s relationships in trouble, Pandemonium employs the distinctive device of presenting most of the action from the perspective of Sam’s home camera”.

Pitch Perfect – A tv series is in the works which will be set after the films. “Adam Devine returns as Bumper Allen, who moves to Germany to revive his music career when one of his songs becomes big in Berlin. Bumper was the main antagonist of the first film and the leader of the all-male a cappella group The Treblemakers. He returned in the second film as a supporting character and the love interest of Rebel Wilson’s character, Fat Amy. He worked as a backup singer for John Mayer before returning to his alma mater, Barden University, as a security guard”.

The Problem With John Stewart – A trailer and a fair amount of info about this new series can be found here:

Rugrats – The new reboot / reimagining / remake / reidontknowivenotactuallyseenit of the show has been given a second season.

The Sex Lives of College Girls – Is another series from Mindy Kaling, and is set to debut on November 18th, which “follows four young women who are thrown together as college roommates when they arrive for their freshman year at New England’s prestigious Essex College. While they come from different backgrounds and are described as being “a bundle of contradictions and hormones,” they will bond as they navigate their new, free lives on campus, in classes and of course with relationships (or hookups)”.

Succession – A trailer for the third season and a first look at the roles played by Adrien Brody and Alexander Skarsgard can be seen here: While the cast and crew have been discussing the direction the series will take here:

The Trouble With Jessica – Rufus Sewell and Olivia Williams are to star in this black comedy film – “Shirley Henderson (Stan & Ollie), Indira Varma (This Way Up) and Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory, Dodgeball) co-star in the independent movie. Shot in London this spring, the film is written by director Matt Winn and his regular scriptwriting partner James Handel, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal. “I’ve just done a very dark British comedy” Sewell told The One Show in July. “Admittedly it’s very dark, called The Trouble With Jessica, with me and Olivia Williams playing my wife”. He neglected to share plot details. But the feature, which is produced by Sarah Sulick for Bright Pictures, has been described as “intense but fun”.”.

United States Of Al – The producers have been discussing the forthcoming second season and how “It will tell a story that mimics its production staff’s experience in scrambling to help those who had loved ones in Afghanistan during the recent Taliban attacks”.
