coming-attractions-10092021-ladhoodLatest Update: This week we’ve news on the third series of Liam Williams’ Ladhood, Dan Harmon’s new animated comedy Krapopolis, Russel Tovey joining the cast of Mawaan Rizwan’s pilot Juice, the True Lies tv series based on the vaguely liked Schwarzenegger film, the return of Tracey Morgan’s The Last O.G., and much much more.

Gentefied – Season 2 of this Latinx dramedy will premiere on November 10th on Netflix. The series “follows three cousins who unite to keep their grandfather’s popular taco shop open amid rising gentrification in their Boyle Heights neighborhood. Starring Joaquín Cosío, J.J. Soria, Karrie Martin Lachney and Carlos Santos, Season 2 will see the Morales cousins fight to help their Pop stay in the country, all while dealing with new love, new babies and estranged fathers.”

Good Trouble – Will be back for a fourth season.

Juice – Russell Tovey is to star in Mawaan Rizwan’s BBC Three pilot Juice, “Alongside the stand-up’s real-life brother and mother, plus fellow comic Jeff Mirza. “As British Comedy Guide revealed last month, the 35-minute Comedy Slice, which airs this autumn, has also been made for the US streaming service HBO Max. It is based on Two Weeks To Live star Rizwan’s 2018 Edinburgh Fringe show of the same name, which derives from his mother’s advice to him growing up that if “life gives you mangoes, make mango juice”. Rizwan plays Jamma, who desperately wants to be the centre of attention, but his family are constantly stealing his thunder. Mum, Farida (Shahnaz Rizwan) always makes everything about her, Dad, Saif (Mirza), ignores him and brother, Isaac (Nabhaan Rizwan), steals the limelight at work – the one place Jamma feels like he’s doing well. And when he finally does get validation from boyfriend Guy (Him & Her star Tovey), he can’t handle it. Jamma’s hyperactive imagination goes into overdrive and the world transforms around him”.

Krapopolis – Is Dan Harmon’s new animated comedy, set in Ancient Greece and starring “Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Matt Berry (What We Do In The Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders), and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel). Krapopolis centers on a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters trying to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other. Ayoade voices Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess. He’s the benevolent King of Krapopolis trying to make do in a city that lives up to its name. Waddingham plays Deliria, Tyrannis’ mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family—forged in patricide and infidelity—she’s known as the trashy one. Berry voices Shlub, Tyrannis’ father, a mantitaur (half centaur, half manticore [lion + human + scorpion]). He is oversexed and underemployed; he claims to be an artist and has literally never paid for anything in his entire life. Murphy plays Stupendous, Tyrannis’ half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Lastly, Trussell plays Hippocampus, Tyrannis’ half-brother, offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking. So yes, it’s definitely a little complicated, and as dysfunctional as the ancient Greek gods and goddesses were”.

Ladhood – The third series of this has been commissioned by the BBC. “Talking about the six new episodes, the BBC says: “Picking up where Series 2 left off, we find Young Liam (Oscar Kennedy) approaching the end of 6th form and eyeing up a potential place at a top university. All he has to do is ace the interview, nail his exams, and not get side-tracked by the more exciting adventures on offer with his best mates Ralph (Samuel Bottomley), Addy (Aqib Khan) and Craggy (Shaun Thomas). How hard can that be?” “As in previous series, the noughties timeline runs in parallel to scenes of Liam in the present day, reflecting on his teenage years and trying his best not to make the same mistakes again.”.

The Last O.G. – Tracey Morgan’s tbs comedy will return on October 26th. “The comedy series stars Tracy Morgan as Tray, an ex-con who returns to Brooklyn from prison, finding his neighborhood gentrified and his ex married to another man. Tiffany Haddish, Allen Maldonado, Ryan Gaul, Taylor Christian Mosby, Dante Hoagland and Cedric the Entertainer also star, with Season 4 guests including Janet Hubert, Malik Yoba, Wood Harris and Gary Dourdan. “

Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Phoebe Waller-Bridge has quit the Amazon series and will no longer be either co-writing or co-starring in it. “Multiple sources confirmed to Variety that Waller-Bridge, best known for her indie TV hit “Fleabag,” has left the project due to creative differences with fellow star and executive producer Donald Glover. According to those close to the project, Waller-Bridge’s departure is amicable and her role will be re-cast. The duo first worked together on “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.

Nora Jones – Singer Molly Rainford is to star in a CBBC comedy adventure series “about an 18-year-old pop star undertaking a concert tour throughout the galaxy… CBBC says: “With original music throughout, Nova Jones oozes talent and makes an impact with her out-of-this-world fashion in the quirky comedy. Whilst Nova is playing sell-out gigs to her legions of fans all across the universe, it’s up to McLaren to organise her superstar big sister’s tour schedule, her many moods and to untangle the various knotty situations that Nova gets them into!

Peck’Eds – is a BBC Threesome comedy coming soon. “Comedy writer Soph Galustian has landed her first BBC commission on the back of her sketches and monologues released on social media. Peck’Eds is a BBC Threesome – a series of three, three-minute shorts, about growing up as a young, working class woman in South Manchester. Galustian plays Melissa who with her best friends – Abbie (Hannah Donelon) and Naz (Leah Choudhry) – offer a taste of ‘council estate, high school life from period troubles, to sexuality discoveries’”.

Sex Education – Another trailer for the third season is now online:

Such Brave Girls – Kat Sadler’s pilot is going ahead with Sadler co-starring with her sister Lizzie Davidson. “Sadler also wrote the script for Such Brave Girls, about a single mother, Deb, and her two daughters trying to piece their lives back together after their narcissistic father and husband finally leaves them for good. She said: ‘Everything we joke about in the show is from a place of lived experience. ‘I wish I could say this is a heart-warming show about overcoming trauma, but that would be a lie. It’s about three toxic, damaged egomaniacs manipulating the world and each other for their own personal gain, vengeance and glory. Yes, just like in Little Women.’”.

Taskmaster – The twelfth series begins on September 23rd, and a short trailer is here:

True Lies – Matt Nix (Burn Notice, the Turner & Hooch Disney+ series) is working on a tv adaptation of the Schwarzenegger movie. “Shameless alum Steve Howey is set to star in the pilot episode of a True Lies series for CBS, where he will take on the role of a very different kind of family man. Howey will star as Harry Tasker, the role originally played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1994 film. The character is described as a “benign, play-it-safe, seemingly risk-averse computer salesman and devoted family man, married with two kids.” But there’s more to Harry than meets the eyes, as he’s also an undercover operative working for a covert U.S. Intelligence organization. Keeping with the plot lines in the film, the series will follow Harry as he tries to navigate his secret identity as well as his failing marriage. Jamie Lee Curtis plays Harry’s wife in the film, a role which has yet to be cast for the series. In the film, Harry’s unfulfilled suburban wife seeks excitement due to her husband’s frequent absences. In an effort to revitalize their marriage, Harry recruits her for a mission, which brings them closer as they end up on a dangerous adventure together”.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist – A Christmas themed tv movie has been confirmed.
