coming attractions 03092021 indexLatest News: The third series of Stath lets Flats, the supernatural comedy “Boo, Bitch”, Kate Beckinsale’s new sitcom Guilty Party, Asim Chaudhry starring with Maria Bakalova in a rom-com movie, new BBC series Alma’s Not Norma, trailers for Insecure and Dickinson, and much much more.

Alma’s Not Normal – begins Monday September 13th at 10pm on BBC Two. “The full series will be available on BBC iPlayer following transmission of episode one. Alma’s Not Normal follows Boltonian wild child Alma Nuthall as she tries to get her life back on track after a recent break up. But with no job, no qualifications and a rebellious streak a mile wide, it’s not going to be easy. Meanwhile her mum Lin (Siobhan Finneran), who is battling a heroin addiction, has been sectioned for arson and her vampish Grandma Joan (Lorraine Ashbourne) wants nothing to do with it. Alma’s Not Normal offers a bitingly funny and unflinching take on class, sexuality, mental health and substance abuse”.

Annie Live – There’s been more casting news concerning this live tv special, with Jane Krakowski to star as Lily St. Regis. “Krakowski reunites with her “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” co-star Tituss Burgess in this live holiday musical, as she will play the sassy and sticky-fingered partner of his swindler, Rooster Hannigan. The character duo will plot to get rich — and duet on “Easy Street.””.

Big Shot – Disney+ have renewed this John Stamos basketball based dramedy for a second season.

Boo, Bitch – Is a new sitcom starring Lana Condor that “centers on a high school senior who has lived her life under the radar. Over the course of one night, she seizes the opportunity to change her narrative and start living an epic life, only to find out the next morning that she’s a “motherf*%king ghost.” Condor stars as protagonist Erika. Colletti plays Gia, Erika’s best friend for more than a decade. She is described as a goofball and an upbeat optimist who never gives up hope that she and Erika will finally make their mark in high school. Versaw will appear as Jake C., Erika’s hopeless (or maybe not-so hopeless) crush. Jake has been dating popular girl Riley, but he may finally be fed up with her “drama.” Brielle will play Riley, a mean girl who disguises her meanness through calculated manipulation. Riley has made Erika’s life miserable ever since their freshman year”.

Bump – The BBC is to air this Australian comedy-drama “about an ambitious teenage girl who has a surprise baby. The ten-part series will air on BBC One, although no date has yet been set. It stars Nathalie Morris as overachieving Oly Chalmers-Davis, a student in the suburbs of Sydney whose carefully planned future is thrown into chaos when she collapses in agony. She is stunned to discover she is in labour and the father is not her boyfriend. Sue Deeks, the BBC’s head of programme acquisition, said: ‘Bump is a funny, quirky, keenly observed dramedy that takes a fresh and frank look at embracing the unexpected”.

Chicago Party Aunt – Is a forthcoming Netflix sitcom based on a twitter account. “In the trailer for Chicago Party Aunt, we see that the heart of the series lies in the relationship between Diane Dunbrowski (a.k.a. CPA, voiced by Lauren Ash) and Daniel (Rory O’Malley), her gay nephew who is staying with her while he takes a gap year from Stanford. Daniel appears to be at a crossroads, but is aided by his platitude-spouting aunt who favors sayings like, “Fittin’ in is boring; don’t waste time being something you’re not,” and “Here’s to staying positive and testing negative!” Other characters spotted briefly are Diane’s beloved husband Kurt (Witaske), boss Gideon (RuPaul Charles), sister Bonnie (Jill Talley), and son Mikey (Barinholtz), who she urges to drink lots of pop (pronounced “paaap”). If the hardcore Chicago accents don’t grate on you, you’re probably a Midwesterner, but it is fun to see city highlights like the Art Institute Lions, Soldier(s) Field, and what looks to be an animated form of Mike Ditka himself”.

Cobra Kai – Has been given a fifth season even before the fourth has aired.

Code 404 – Has been given a third series, but we haven’t read about it as we’ve yet to see the second series.

The Croods: Family Tree – Is a new series inspired by the films that premieres on Hulu and Peacock on September 23rd. “The animated show follows rivals-turned-friends the Croods and the Bettermans as they learn to live together on a farm and overcome their differences. “Star Wars” and “Raya and the Last Dragon” actress Kelly Marie Tran returns as the voice of Dawn Betterman, alongside Amy Landecker as Ugga, Kiff VandenHeuvel as Grug, Ally Dixon as Eep, AJ Locascio as Thunk, Dee Bradley Baker as Sandy, Artemis Pebdani as Gran, Darin Brooks as Guy, Matthew Waterson as Phil and Amy Rosoff as Hope”.

Dickinson – The third and final season of this AppleTv+ dramey will kick off on November 5th, and more info and a trailer is here:

Guilty Party – This new series starring Kate Beckinsale will begin with two episodes on October 14th. “The 10-episode first season is about Beth Burgess (Kate Beckinsale), a journalist trying to save her career by following the story of young mother Tony Plimpton (Jules Latimer), who is in prison for murdering her husband, though she claims to be innocent. Geoff Stults, Laurie Davidson, Andre Hyland, Tiya Sircar and Alanna Uback also star. Rebecca Addelman serves as creator and executive produces alongside Beckinsale; director Trent O’Donnell; Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen; and Funny Or Die’s Joe Farrell, Jim Ziegler and Mike Farah. Becca Kinskey and Whitney Hodack are co-executive producers. CBS Studios produces in association with Funny Or Die and Mosaic”.

The Honeymoon – Asim Chaudhry is to star with Maria Bakalova in a new rom com. “The Honeymoon revolves around two newlyweds’ trip of a lifetime to Venice being ruined by the groom’s ‘excessively needy’ best friend. It also co-stars relatively unknown actor Pico Alexander. Bulgarian-born Bakalova, 25, was nominated for an Oscar for playing Tutar Sagdiyev, the daughter of Sacha Baron Cohen’s title character in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. She told Hollywood website Deadline: ‘This film intrigued me because it’s an escapist comedy that put a twist on the classic buddy movie format by including a strong female character, particularly from Eastern Europe”.

Insecure – Will be back on October 24th, and more info and a trailer are here:

The Ms. Pat Show – Bet+ have given this a second season.

Players – American Vandal creators Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault are making a new series for Paramount Plus that will be “an eSports mockumentary series called “Players,” Variety has learned. “Players” follows a fictional pro “League of Legends” team as they pursue their first championship after years of close calls and heartache. To win it all, they will need their prodigy, a 17-year-old rookie, and their 27-year-old veteran to put their egos aside and work together”. Yacenda and Perrault created “Players” and will also serve as executive producers, with Yacenda also attached to direct”.

The Problem With Jon Stewart – Will debut on September 30th on AppleTv+, followed by new episodes every other week.

Reservation Dogs – Taika Waititi’s latest comedy has been given a second season.

Spitting Image – is set to return on 11th September. “New puppets of prominent figures already rolling off puppet production line include Olivia Colman, Sajid Javid, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Tom Cruise, Tom Daley, Jess Phillips, Ariana Grande, Gary Lineker, Bill Gates, Ellen DeGeneres, and Raheem Sterling, to name a few, to add to the existing cast of hundreds puppets of global figures including: Joe Biden, Boris Johnson, Cristiano Ronaldo, Prince Andrew, Harry Kane, Vladimir Putin, Harry & Meghan, Beyoncé, Angela Merkel, Dwayne Johnson, Gareth Southgate, Ed Sheeran, Jürgen Klopp, Elon Musk, Adele, Covid-19, James Corden, Emmanuel Macron, Mark Zuckerberg, Donald Trump, and Dominic Cummings”.

Stath Lets Flats – Filming of the third series has ended and the guest stars in it have been revealed. “The channel and producers Roughcut say: “The third series will pick up where the second finished with a shocking cliff-hanger as incompetent letting agent Stath is faced with rescuing the family business, Michael & Eagle, and his relationship with Katia, while expecting his first child by Carole. Meanwhile his sister, Sophie, and best friend, Al, deal with the fallout of finally declaring their feelings for each other.” They tease: “Series 3 will feature some stellar guest stars, including Julia Davis who appears in one episode as Kris, Carole’s belittling and snobbish sister; David Avery plays Bambos, Stath’s flash barber cousin …and Charlie Cooper plays Gregory – a lettings agent who is passionately devoted to his wife and runs a rival agency called Live Love Lets.”…”To air later this year on Channel 4, Series 3 will also see the return of guest stars Nick Mohammed, David Mumeni and Tom Stourton”.

Untitled Chris and Rosie Ramsey Chat Show – The married couple are to have a late-night BBC chat show. “The married pair made a non-transmitted pilot, in which they interviewed another celebrity couple and sought to help small family businesses, this summer. Now Chris has effectively confirmed a series has been ordered. “We brought elements of our life to the show and yeah, the pilot was very cool, we really enjoyed it,” he told Lorraine Kelly on her ITV daytime show. “All we’re allowed to say is watch this space with a big, over the top pantomime wink,” he ostentatiously winked. “Watch this space.””.
