coming-attractions-13082021Latest Update: This week we’ve news on Netflix’s new animated comedy Q-Force, the second series of Daisy Haggard’s Back To Life, a new comedy with Schitt’s Creek co-creator Dan Levy, a cast addition to Courtney Cox’s horror comedy Shining Light, trailers for The Other Two and Robot Chicken, and much more.

Animaniacs – This returns with 13 new episodes on November 5th, and a teaser is online. “In the short teaser, Wakko tirelessly waits for the second season of his favorite show to load and he’s driven a pretty antsy from the slow moving progress bar. Yakko chills idly on the couch next to him, with Dot no where to be seen”.

Back To Life – The second season returns to Showtime on September 13th. “Created by and starring Daisy Haggard, “Back to Life” follows Miri Matteson (Haggard) who stumbles back into adult life after 18 years behind bars. The six-part second season sees Miri optimistic about her future, as probation officer Janice (Jo Martin) has gotten her a trial shift at the supermarket, and her neighbor Billy (Adeel Akhtar) has been spending more time with her. However, Miri is also not talking to her mother Caroline (Geraldine James) after finding out she had an affair with Miri’s ex-boyfriend Dom (Jamie Michie). Christine Bottomley also stars as Miri’s best friend, Mandy”.

Dear White People – Is back for its final season from September 22nd. ““Dear White People,” an extension of the film of the same name by Justin Simien, deals with issues of race, class and sexuality on that college campus. Logan Browning’s Sam White hosts a radio show within the series that is also titled “Dear White People” and is where a lot of the more direct conversation comes from. However, previous seasons also dealt with police brutality and abuse of power by famous figures head-on through storylines for characters including Reggie (Marque Richardson) and Muffy (Caitlin Carver)”.

The Great – The second season is due to air on Hulu in Winter 2021. “Tony McNamara’s satirical comedy about Catherine The Great, Russia’s longest-reigning female ruler (played by Elle Fanning), will return in winter 2021. The streaming platform announced during the Television Critics Association’s 2021 summer press tour that The Great season two will premiere in November. The new season picks up after the events of the season-one finale, “The Beaver’s Nose,” wherein Catherine’s husband Peter III (Nicholas Hoult) discovers her plot of overthrowing him and becoming the sole ruler. He imprisons her lover, Leo (Sebastian de Souza), effectively bringing his wife under his thumb. Now she’ll have to continue to battle him while pregnant, and still attempt to liberate a nation that probably doesn’t want to be free.” More info and a teaser trailer is here:

Hold The Front Page – Nish Kumar and Josh Widdecombe are making a pilot together which “Will see the pair championing the role that local newspapers play in the communities they serve”.

The Other Two – A trailer for the show, which now airs on HBO Max and will begin on August 26th – is here:

Q-Force – Netflix’s animated comedy starts on September 2nd. “Starring Sean Hayes, Gary Cole, David Harbour, Patti Harrison, Laurie Metcalf, Matt Rogers, Wanda Sykes and Gabe Liedman… Q-Force follows Steve Mayweather, AKA Agent Mary (voiced by Hayes), who was once the leader of the American Intelligence Agency (AIA) until he came out as gay. The Agency was not able to fire him on the basis of his sexual orientation, so they sent him to West Hollywood to disappear into obscurity. Instead, Steve put together a rag-tag group of LGBTQ geniuses, joining forces with the expert mechanic Deb (Sykes), master of drag and disguise Twink Rogers), and hacker Stat (Harrison), making the “Q-Force” squad”. More info and a trailer is here:

Robot Chicken – The 11th season debuts on Adult Swim on September 6th, and a trailer is here:

Search Party – Kathy Griffin will become a regular in the fifth season. “Griffin will recur in the HBO Max comedy as Liquorice Montague, a conspiracy theorist who takes Chantal (Clare McNulty) under her wing as a “co-dependent apprentice.””.

Shining Vale – Judith Light has been added to the cast of this forthcoming Courtney Cox horror comedy. “The show, which is currently in production in Los Angeles now, follows a dysfunctional family that moves into a house in which terrible atrocities have taken place. Only one person in the family seems to notice the house’s bad energy, though: Pat (Courteney Cox), who at first thinks she’s either depressed or possessed. Light will play Joan, who is described as Pat’s “Lithium-infused mother,” who has battled mental illness for a long time — and also battled her daughter, who she blames for her mental illness. Joan is vain and hyper-critical and will take any opportunity to try to reclaim her youth or belittle her daughter. Joan may be the most frightening horror Pat faces”.

Standing By – Schitt’s Creek co-creator Dan Levy is to star in an animated comedy. “Standing By is a satirical look into the lives of a group of eternally bound, disgruntled guardian angels and the lessons they’ll eventually learn from not only the dysfunctional humans they’re in charge of protecting, but also from each other. Levy is trading in the cheerful nature of Schitt’s Creek to voice a lead character named Carey, the newly deceased, cynical spotter to the group. Before his death, he had a lonely, isolated life in New York City (this last part strikes a little too close to home). Standing By is set to join Solar Opposites in Hulu’s effort to bring animated originals to the streamer with the help of 20th Television Animation”.

Wednesday Addams – Catherine Zeta Jones will star as Mortecia Addams in this forthcoming series. While Luis Guzman will be Gomez –

The White Lotus – Has been renewed for a second season, but we’ve not read the article for spoiler reasons.
