Tom Allen Goes To Town – This extremely average stand up has been given a pilot by Channel 4 where he’ll visit a town and host an entertainment show. Werewolf: Live – This popular comedy show (which is back at the Edinburgh Festival this week) is being developed for tv by Avalon, and apparently “The game takes place in a village under attack from werewolves. Most players are villagers, whose aim is to uncover the wolves, who are trying to masquerade as villagers. The werewolves are in cahoots and must subtly work together to influence the group into accidentally accusing innocent villagers of being werewolves, thus killing them. Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy – Hulu is making a new adaptation of Douglas Adams books with the showrunner being Carlton Cuse, who accordung to the AV Club “is writing and producing the series with Jason Fuchs, whose most high-profile success was co-writing Wonder Woman, and who also has a few more questionable credits (Pan, Ice Age: Continental Drift) to his name.” Cuse of course was one of the Lost showrunners, and since then has created The Strain, Bates Motel, The Returned and Colony, so chances are this is going to be pretty bad. https://news.avclub.com/hulu-sticks-out-its-thumb-flags-down-a-hitchhikers-gui-1836676857

Scooby Doo – Making me joyful that I don’t have children, Ricky Gervais appeared as himself in an episode of this much loved animated show yesterday, making terrible puns according to the Chortle article, so it will be realistic stuff indeed. The Colonel Banjoko Show – Famalam and Sliced star Samson Kayo is to play a fictional African dictator in an e4 pilot who sounds a lot like the pre-existing comedy character President Obonjo, with the latter speaking out about the similarity today. In the series Kayo’s character hosts his own chat show which the channel describes as “With his only previous TV experience being lengthy diatribes on Tanzangola’s state-owned news channel, Colonel Banjoko is the perfect person to host an E4 entertainment show. He is bombastic, charming, utterly self-obsessed and highly dangerous and his celebrity guests are kept on their toes by his unique and unpredictable style of interrogation. Happy Together – The sitcom loosely based on Harry Styles pre-fame life with his flatmate has been cancelled.

Harry Hill’s Alien Fun Capsule – Is coming back for a third series.

The Heart, She Holler – Was renewed for a fourth season, but this was a couple of years ago now so it’s unknown if it will return.

High Fidelity – A female led remake of Nick Hornby’s book / film is due to star Zoe Kravitz.

Hippy Dinners: A Memoir of a Rural Childhood – Steve Coogan is adapting this popular novel in to a comedy drama about Welsh hippies. According to Digital Spy, Coogan said: “It has 15, 20 characters of different sizes, various storylines that intersect. It’s something I am passionate about and know will make people laugh and move them. It’s about class, politics and, more importantly than any of that, it’s about people, characters, stories, humanity.”

Hitmen – Sky have ordered a new sitcom starring Mel and Sue, with the couple playing hapless assassins.

IFC – The channel is working on five new shows, though whether or not they’ll make it to air is another question. “Almost Asian,” executive produced by Margaret Cho, chronicles the life of a mixed-race millennial; “Annika Erotica” follows a young pastor harboring a secret passion for writing erotic novels; the adventure comedy “Art Thieves” is about self-proclaimed Robin Hoods of the art world; “Beth,” focuses on a happily-agoraphobic man’s uneasy journey back to the outside world; and the satirical and politically provocative sketch comedy “The Middle Passage.” The projects join the previously announced series in development “How to Rig an Election” and “NGO.”

Kidding – Jim Carrey’s new series has been given a second season, which pleases as it’s shaping up to be fantastic stuff.

Last Stop Bay Bridge – Fox are developing a semi-autobiographical multi-camera comedy from Andy Roth (One Day At A Time). SpoilerTv describe it as”About eight people of different ages and ethnicities who form friendships, and rivalries, as they commute by the subway from their gentrifying neighbourhood in Brooklyn to their respective jobs in Manhattan. It’s inspired by Roth’s own upbringing in Manhattan where he rode the subway to school every day and formed the most unlikely and life changing relationships.”

Laughing At Salad – Comedy Central have commissioned a female only sketch show written by Harriet Kemsley, Sarah Morgan, Gemma Arrowsmith, Kat Butterfield, and Cassie Atkinson and performed by Maddie Rice, Beth Rylance, Bronwyn James, Danielle Vitalis and Elinor Lawless. It’ll be released online initially but hopefully will be shown on the channel at some point.

Living With Yourself – This Paul Rudd comedy series was developed by IFC who then decided not to pick it up, but thankfully Netflix will air it in 2019. Aisling Bea has just been added to the cast, which makes us even more excited about it.

Lodge 49 – AMC’s pretty unusual comedy series has been renewed for a second season.

The Long Game – ABC are developing a single-camera family comedy from writer Chadd Gindin, about “A family of scam artists led by Loni – who, 16 years into being a mother, decides it’s time for her to be a good one. She tries to get her family to go straight despite a husband who still slips, a lifetime of bad examples that the kids won’t let her forget and no idea how to accomplish this in a society that seems to have embraced the morally grey area she’s trying to get them away from.”

The Middle – ABC were attempting to create a Sue Heck spin-off starring Eden Sher but it currently looks unlikely to happen, though Warner Bros Tv are shopping it around to other networks:

Untitled Blake McCormick Comedy – NBC is developing a new show from the Single Parents producer which “would follow a “meek and modest” man from Los Angeles who travels to remote, small-town Alaska to claim a mysterious inheritance after the death of his estranged uncle.”

Untitled Brent Morin Series – Bill Lawrence is producing a comedy series starring and co-written by comedian Brent Morin, about Andy Hewitt (Morin) who, in a desperate attempt to prove himself to his family after losing his dream job, has no choice but to take a retail job at the world’s most fashionable department store.

Untitled Diablo Cody Comedy – David Spade is set to star in a new HBO comedy from the Juno / United States Of Tara writer, which according to the AV Club is about “a washed-up, semi-famous grunge rocker who fell out of the spotlight in the ‘90s after getting addicted to heroin. Untitled Skateboarding Project – Love co-creator Lesley Arfin is working with HBO on a skateboarding comedy inspired by Crystal Moselle’s critically acclaimed film Skate Kitchen.

The Venture Bros. – Season 8 has been commissioned but probably won’t hit our screens until 2020 at the earliest.

Waiting – Comedy Central once again are making a new online show, this time from Pleb’s star Ryan Sampson, which is a ten-part scripted series in which two characters are stuck waiting in various different scenarios. You’re Killing Me – Is being developed by CBS All Access and is produced by Gina Rodriguez, who could potentially act in it. But when her mom dies unexpectedly and haunts Gracie for real, Gracie’s worst nightmare becomes her mom’s dream come true.”
